Let's talk about engagement photos. Many couples seem to be on the fence about them. What is the significance of them? Is it necessary?
YES YES YES
Here are FIVE reasons why you should say yes to engagement photos.
1. SHAKE OFF THE NERVES
This is a great time for you and your partner to get comfortable in front of the camera. So many couples tell me how stiff and awkward they get when a camera is pointed their way. This is your chance to get comfortable before your wedding day.
2. GET TO KNOW ME
This is a great time for us to get to know each other. On your wedding day, I will be with you for numerous hours, so having you already comfortable with me is a huge advantage and will make you more relaxed.
3. USE THESE PHOTOS FOR WEDDING RELATED THINGS
Having an engagement session done will also allow you to use these photos for anything wedding related like save the dates, invitations, wedding guestbook . . . the options are endless!
4. HAIR & MAKEUP TRIAL
If you have a hair and makeup artist in mind for your wedding, this is a great chance to do your trial with them. You're able to see if you are happy with the look you have decided to go for or if there are any changes you wish to make.
5. DOCUMENT YOUR LOVE
Engagement sessions are meant to be fun! This session is all about you as a couple. We will have plenty of time to get the glam photos on your wedding day so this is a chance for the two of you to let loose and be you! You're only engaged for a short period of time- why not document it?
When you're coming up with a plan for your session, think about who you are as a couple and what would most represent you both. Once you know that, make that the theme of your session!
Amy & Mark had their engagement shoot Thanksgiving weekend. They brought their dogs, their favourite drinks and some props. The session had lots of laughs and was a great way to start our relationship before the wedding!
