A Little History of Cellar 52 in St. Jacobs

Cellar 52 has a pretty cool story behind it. The building was originally built in 1852, which is where the name comes from and it once served as a lodging hotel in the heart of St. Jacobs. Over time, it’s been lovingly restored, keeping its original character while being transformed into the warm, stylish wedding venue it is today. Cellar 52 was also the first venue that Trella, Stephanie, and Kristi opened in St. Jacobs, and from there they’ve gone on to successfully open several more beautiful venues in the area!

Tanya & Adam’s Cellar 52 Wedding in St. Jacobs

Tanya and Adam tied the knot in early August at Cellar 52, and their wedding day was nothing short of special. They chose to begin the day with a heartfelt first look indoors by the fireplace, a quiet, emotional moment that set the tone for the rest of the celebration. After sharing that time together, we moved into a few portraits around the venue, capturing the warmth and character of the space.

Once Adam’s family arrived, they celebrated with a traditional tea ceremony, a beautiful cultural tradition that symbolizes respect, gratitude, and the joining of two families. During the ceremony, the couple served tea to his parents and received blessings and well-wishes for their marriage. It was intimate, meaningful, and such a touching part of their day.

The weather kept everyone on their toes, with storm warnings rolling in and uncertainty about whether to move the ceremony indoors. One of the wonderful things about a venue like Cellar 52 is the flexibility and reassurance it offers, the staff were calm, supportive, and gave Tanya and Adam the space to make the decision that felt right for them, even just a few hours before the ceremony.

In the end, the storm held off and their ceremony took place outdoors by the riverside, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Their reception was laid-back and joyful no formal speeches, no structured dinner, just guests mingling, sharing great food, laughing together, and dancing the night away. The atmosphere felt relaxed, genuine, and full of love, exactly how Tanya and Adam wanted their celebration to be! All in all, it was a truly wonderful day, as it always is at any Stella Co wedding venue!
